The
Department of Computer Science, Audo Technology, and
Physics in the American University’s College of
Arts and Sciences offers graduate and undergraduate level
programs in a variety of formats tailored to meet the
diverse educational goals and schedules of its students.
CAP offers Master’s degrees in Computer Science
in the traditional day and evening format as well as
a Graduate Certificate in Computer Science for those
who seek graduate credentials in computing but have little
experience in the field.
Among the faculty are nationally recognized experts in the
fields of artificial intelligence, data bases, and theoretical
computer science. Faculty also serve on editorial boards
of major professional computing journals.
The department supports a chapter of Upsilon Pi Epsilon,
the nation’s only honor society in the computing sciences,
and a chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery
(ACM).
