Master Degree Options for Teach for America

American University has partnered with Teach for America (TFA) to offer Master degree options to TFA corps members, alumni and staff who will be able to choose from three degrees in AU’s School of Education (SOE). These programs are built on a cohort-based design, include discounted tuition for TFA participants, and are designed for those participants who want to make a lasting positive difference in the lives of children and engage in transformative education policy and practice.

To Apply

The priority deadline to apply for fall enrollment is Feb 1 and the 2nd deadline is March 1. Applications are accepted and processed on a rolling admissions basis until cohorts are filled. The application process for TFA participants, alumni and staff include the submission of:

  • Click here to complete the online application
  • Official transcripts (sealed) from any institutions previously attended;

  • Special Education and MAT Candidates must submit passing scores on the Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators Exam (CORE) electronically using code 5007

  • a Letter of Intent (which is included in the online application) written by the applicant related to his or her background and career interests. 

SOE will waive the application fee and the letters of recommendation requirement for TFA applicants.
