Heather McDonald

Heather McDonald earned her MFA from American University and her BA from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va. Prior to teaching, she was a web writer and editor. She is interested in transferability between creative writing and composition, concepts of empathy and gratitude in pedagogy, memoir, literary journalism, and food writing. Her essay, "How to Fix Everything," was named Creative Nonfiction magazine's Best Food essay, appearing in the Spring 2011 issue. The essay was named a Notable Essay for Best American Essays 2012, by guest editor David Brooks and series editor Robert Atwan.
