  • Rebeca Moreno is a PhD candidate at the University of Maryland, College Park. She holds a B.A. in Public Communication from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras, and a M.A. in Spanish Language and Literature from the University of Maryland, College Park. She taught Spanish Language, Cultures and Literatures courses at the University of Maryland for seven years. She is currently working on her dissertation: “Entre la ley y la letra: construcción de la subjetividad negra en el Circumcaribe hispano”, which explores the interconnections between the legal discourse and the literary discourse in the Hispanic colonial period. The project also analyses how this colonial epistemic affects, not only the production of meaning during the process of slavery, but also the construction of Black subjectivities in the geopolitical region of the Hispanic-Caribbean.
