Instructor of Spanish
Professor Piniero was born in Puerto Rico and grew up in Mexico. She teaches Spanish Language courses: Elementary I and II, Intermediate I and II and, Conversation and Composition I and II, and has for almost 8 years at AU. She has served as Coordinating Professor for the Intermediate, Conversation, and Composition Spanish programs for the past 6 years, and as the Spanish Club Advisor for the past 5.
Professor Pineiro is interested in the study of instructional methods of Spanish as a Second Language (Most recent ACTFL workshops). She is also interested in Literature of Latin American and Spanish Women Writers. Professor Pineiro likes to review Spanish textbooks (the most recent: "Atando cabos" Spanish Intermediate textbook 3rd ed.)
Professor Pineiro encourages her students to participate in the program liaison between AU and the DC Latino Community. Professor Pineiro supports this liaison serving as a Judge for the category Hispanos in U.S.A., but sin estereotipos in the Playwright Contest sponsored by the Interamerican Development Bank, Washington DC, Fall 2009.
Professor Pineiro loves teaching, traveling, Art, volunteering and spending time with her family.
