- Ana-Maria Nuevo specializes in dual and second language learning. She has over 10 years of experience in teaching and supervising teachers of English as a Second Language and Spanish as a Second Language. Before beginning her career at American University in 2010, she was visiting assistant professor at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru, where she taught both undergraduate and master level courses in linguistics and education. She has been a consultant to USAID Perú, the State Department's Regional English Language Office, Berlitz and Rosetta Stone, providing her expertise about teaching and learning additional languages. She is deeply interested in second language teacher education and the professionalization of the field. Her research interests include the interaction approach to second language acquisition, task complexity in task-based language learning, and learner-learner interaction.
