Mark Stevens is an Administrative Officer (AO) in the Office of Administrative Services at the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS), National Institutes of Health (NIH). Mark manages the budget; human resources, travel, procurement, space and facilities, and general administration for NIH scientists and researchers.
Mark began his Federal service career when he worked as a James Webb Budget Fellow at the Smithsonian Institution. In 2009, he was selected as a Budget Analyst at the National Eye Institute, National Institutes of Health, through the NIH Administrative Fellows Program (AFP). In 2013, Mark was promoted to the position of Lead AO for the National Cancer Institute (NCI), where he supervised a team of administrative staff supporting the Division of Extramural Activities.
Mark received his Bachelor of Arts degrees in Political Science and Economics from Washington College, Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree from the University of Delaware, and Doctor of Public Administration (DPA) degree from the University of Baltimore. His research interests include public-sector leadership, decision-making, and innovation in public management.
