- Tiffany joined the staff in June 2007. Ms. Speaks holds a BA from Duke University, a master’s degree in East Asian studies from Stanford University, and a master's degree in journalism from Columbia University. She is an adjunct instructor at AU and teaches in the School of Education Teaching and Health and School of Public Affairs. Her area of research is gender, cultural identity, education and public policy. Ms. Speaks enjoys working with students and appreciates the opportunity to share her own passions around intersections of identity. Prior to American University, Tiffany worked at the University of Oklahoma as director of the Women's Outreach Center and an adjunct instructor; formerly, she also served as an Assistant Editor for Newsweek Japan. Ms. Speaks has a love of languages and travel. She has spent at least one month on 6 of the 7 continents, and looks forward to visiting continent #7, Antarctica, very soon.
