Download a check list and compare it with the courses you have taken or plan to
take.

Make an appointment with your Faculty Advisor

Bring the check list with you when you meet with your faculty advisor.
You may also want to bring a transcript or your Degree Audit Report (DARS). (You may request a copy of your DARS report or
access your "internal transcript" via my.american.edu.)

How do I declare a major in History?

Pick up a copy of the History Major Guidelines and Checklist at the Department's Main Office, Battelle-Tompkins 137, or download and print out the attached Guidelines for Undergraduate Majors and the accompanying CAS Declaration of Major form. Both forms require Adobe Acrobat. (Download Adobe Acrobat 5)

Fill both out both forms and make an appointment to see one of the members of the History Department's Undergraduate Studies Committee:
