The History Advisor: Registration

Make an appointment to see your faculty advisor. For a list that includes
office hours, phone numbers, and e-mail addresses, click on Advisors & Advisees. If you do not find your name on this list, please contact
the Main History Office at history@american.edu.

Before your appointment, get a copy of your Degree Audit Report (DARS). (You may download a copy of your your DARS report via my.american.edu.) Using the History Major Guidelines and Checklist (Guidelines for Undergraduate Majors) and the schedule of classes, review the courses you need to complete your major. To use these Guidelines you may need to download Adobe Acrobat 5. (Download Adobe Acrobat)

With your advisor, select the courses you will need to meet the requirements for the major in history, as well as any university requirements that you may not have met.

Your advisor will then authorize you to register using the Advising Wizard (a part of my.american.edu). You may then register by logging on to my.american.edu.

For details, see Registration.
