Multimedia Equipment Checkout
Policies & Procedures

The Katzen Audio Visual Office provides multimedia equipment to specific ARTS classes, MFA graduate students, and Faculty members teaching in the Katzen Arts Center. 

In order to check-out and reserve equipment for yourself, or for your class, we ask that a reservation request be placed at least 24 hours in advance. You will receive a confirmation Equipment Reservation Notice via e-mail, once your request has been processed.

Late Policy

Equipment can be checked-out for no more than 48 hours (not including weekends and holidays). Some equipment available to Faculty and MFA students may be checked out for longer periods of time. When you receive your Equipment Check-out Notice you will receive both a Check-Out and Check-In time. For every business hour after the Check-In time has been exceeded a fee of $10.00 will be incurred. If fines go unpaid we will be forced to put a hold on your student account via the registrar’s office.

Damaged or Missing Equipment Policy

You may be held liable for the replacement or repair cost of any equipment that is returned damaged, or with missing parts. A hold can be placed on your student account should we determine the damage was a result of negligence. When checking out equipment both the Katzen Technical staff member present and the borrower should inspect the items being checked out. Certain items come with a number of accessories. Should one of these accessories be missing upon check-in you may be held accountable for the replacement cost.

Small Item Checkout Procedure

As always we provide Macintosh video adapters (DVI, mini-DVI, mini-Display Port, 30-pin Adapter), PC HDMI to VGA adapters, headphone adapters, and other miscellaneous computer equipment to everyone with a class being held in the Katzen building. These items are available on a first-come-first-served basis and we cannot guarantee that these items will be available. We assume you will be using these items in class, so we require that an AU ID card or other meaningful identification be held in our office until the item being checked out is returned. 

Our hours of operation can change at short notice due to illness, events, and other unforeseen circumstances, so we highly recommend that you call the Administrative Support desk the day you will be checking something out to enquire if the office will be open when you plan on coming by, and that we have the part you desire in-stock. Our normal business hours are from 9:00 to 9:00, Monday through Friday.
