Born to Korean parents and raised in Los Angeles, Cathy Park Hong has published three genre-bending collections of poetry: Translating Mo'um, Dance Dance Revolution, and most recently, Engine Empire. Selected by Adrienne Rich as the winner of the 2006 Barnard Women Poets Prize, Dance Dance Revolution was named one of the Los Angeles Times's Best Science Fiction Books of 2007. About Hong's most recent collection, David Mitchell writes: "Engine Empire is a brainy, glinting triptych....Novelistic, meditative, offbeat and soulful, Hong's poetry is many fathoms deep." The recipient of fellowships from Fulbright, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the New York Foundation for the Arts, she also won a Village Voice for minority reporters. Hong teaches at Sarah Lawrence College at Queens University of Charlotte (North Carolina) in the MFA creative writing program. She lives in New York City.
