ICL: From being part of the program and participating in workshops and the Visiting Writers series, what do you think are the most important things you have learned about your own writing?  How has your writing changed? 

Shawn Frazier

I learned how to improve my writing and what I would avoid doing in my work.

ICL: What is your favorite quote or line from a book?

I'm a chess fanatic. I love playing the game.

"Suite One: Hoodoo in the Forest"

The sun stopped shining in a certain place in the woods. There was a time trees were barren and cold. In August, it once snowed. And deer, undeterred, roamed its grounds searching for food from a certain tree I was hung. I know this tree well. It grows bright red apples in the winter.
