History professor Alan Kraut is featured in a new PBS documentary, Forgotten Ellis Island: The Extraordinary Story of America’s Immigrant Hospital. The film by Lorie Conway will air at 10 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 2, nationwide—except in the Washington area, where it is only on Maryland Public Television Select. It will also appear on WETA, Washington’s PBS affiliate, in March.
A specialist in U.S. immigration and ethnic history, and the history of American medicine, Kraut penned a book on the history of Newark Beth Israel Hospital in 2007. Covenant of Care was coauthored with his wife, Deborah.
