The Advisory Council is a vital and necessary part in the education of professional science master's students at American University. Council members bring, from the world into which PSM students will graduate, their collective wisdom and experience. They offer perspectives on the curriculum and contribute problems confronted in the workplace so that PSM students can work in teams on realistic projects. The Advisory Council becomes a part of the university community, in participating in symposia, workshops, and other events where they can meet like-minded professionals. Members have good opportunities to interact with PSM students, including possibly becoming mentors. Through their work with the PSM program, Advisory Council members get to know the PSM students, who are a very well qualified pool of potential interns and future employees.
