MASTER DEGREE OPTIONS FOR TEACH FOR AMERICA CORPS MEMBERS, ALUMNI AND STAFF

American University Supports Teach for America through its partnership with The New Teacher Project to offer Master degree options to TFA corps members, alumni and staff. TFA affiliated participants will be able to choose from degrees in the School of Education, Teaching & Health (SETH) and the School of Public Affairs (SPA). These programs include flexible course delivery, a cohort based design, and discounted tuition, and are designed to meet the needs of working professionals.

 

Overview of Program Options

  • Master of Education (MEd) in Curriculum and Instruction in Educational Policy and Leadership (30 credits)

  • Master of Education (MEd) in Curriculum and Instruction in Literacy (30 credits)

  • Dual Degree: Master of Education (MEd) in Curriculum and Instruction in Educational Policy and Leadership (30 credits) and a Master of Public Administration or Public Policy (MPP) (30 credits)


To Apply

Deadline to apply for Summer or Fall enrollment is March 1 for priority review. Applications received after that end date will be processed on a rolling admissions basis. The application process for TFA corps members, alumni and staff include the submission of:

  • Click here to complete the online application form;

  • Official transcripts (sealed) from any institutions previously attended;

  • Official GRE scores – please send electronically using GRE school code: 8439 (no department code)

  • a Letter of Intent (which is included in the online application) written by the applicant related to his or her background and career interests.

SETH will waive the application fee and the letters of recommendation requirement. TFA corps members should have had at least one full year of full time teaching experience at the time of enrollment.
