Audrey Cooper's Work in Vietnam Garners Recognition
Congratulations to Audrey Cooper (Ph.D., Anthropology, 2011), who received the Council of Anthropology and Education’s Outstanding Dissertation Award. The mission of this organization is to advance anti-oppressive, socially equitable, and racially just solutions to educational problems through research using anthropological perspectives, theories, methods, and findings.
The Council advocates for research that is responsive to oppressed groups and promotes racial and social justice in all educational settings. The topic of Dr. Cooper’s dissertation research was sign language/deaf education, nation-building and neoliberal-esque politics in the new Viet Nam.
