After completing his Peace Corps service in Uzbekistan and his master’s at AU TESOL, John Mark worked as an adjunct professor at Northern Virginia Community College’s (NOVA) College ESL program. After that, he taught at Presidency University in Dhaka, Bangladesh, where he helped to re-design the English program and in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, where he trained English teachers as an English Language Fellow for the Department of State.

Upon his most recent return to the US, John Mark received a full-time position at NOVA where, in addition to teaching courses in reading and writing, he mentored and observed adjuncts, hosted graduate students, developed materials and coordinated a reading course.

Since September 2009, he has been living in St. Petersburg, Russia, as a US State Department Senior English Language Fellow.  His work primarily focuses on teacher training and he works with both pre- and in-service teachers around the city and in Northwestern Russia.

In addition, an article he co-wrote, “Adbusting: Critical Media Literacy in a Multi-Skills Academic Writing Lesson,” was published in 2008 in English Teaching Forum magazine.
