Clocks and Clouds Undergraduate Research Journal
"All clouds are clocks, even the most cloudy of clouds." --Karl Popper
Clocks and Clouds is an American University undergraduate research journal that publishes articles on the cutting edge of political science, international relations, and public policy. The journal is meant to add a voice to the intellectual dialogue both within the American University community and in broader academia. Popper's metaphor of clocks and clouds describes the two ends of the spectrum of predictability in social science: clouds represent the disorderly and irregular, and clocks represent the predictable and rational. By providing a venue for top undergraduate research, Clocks and Clouds aims to find the clocks amidst all the clouds.

Why should I submit an article?
Publishing an article in a peer-reviewed journal is an excellent resume builder for graduate schools and research jobs, and a way to share ideas with the university community. Working on the editorial process as an author, editor, or reviewer allows you to fine-tune valuable research and writing skills.
How is the Journal produced?
Interested participants submit their original research articles to the journal. A panel of student reviewers assesses and edits submissions anonymously and provides feedback to authors. After submitted articles are revised, the editor selects the articles that the journal will publish. Is getting an article published difficult? Clocks and Clouds is a selective publication that aims to publish distinguished articles. However, our reviewers work closely with authors to turn good articles into great ones. Authors who are passionate about research and can commit time to the review process should not hesitate to submit.
