> Graduation Fair
The one-stop Graduation Fair will be held from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm, March 27 and 28, 2013, in the University Club, Mary Graydon Center first floor. This is an opportunity for graduating students to check their graduation status, determine their cap size, rent caps and gowns, purchase commencement and AU mementos (diploma frames, graduation announcements, class rings, etc.), contribute to the Senior Class gift, and purchase the Talon yearbook. The university's commencement photographer, GradImages, will hold a free graduation portrait sitting. Enjoy light refreshments, and enter to win prizes including a graduation kit valued at $500, gift certificates, a diploma frame, and more. Campus Store
In addition to organizing the Graduation Fair, the Campus Store sells class rings, generic graduation announcements, diploma frames, and hundreds of AU shirts, sweatshirts, caps, and other souvenirs. They will have extended hours during commencement weekend.
DVD Sales
AU’s Audio Visual Services records the commencement ceremonies. DVDs can be purchased for $20 by completing the order form and sending it to the Audio-Visual Department. DVDs cannot be sent to addresses outside the United States. For questions, call 202-885-2296.
Flower Sales
For guests’ convenience, American University has contracted with a local florist to sell floral bouquets in front of Bender Arena on commencement days. To place a special order, contact Chevy Chase Florist at 301-986-0986.
Photos of the Commencement Ceremony
A commercial photographer from GradImages will photograph each student approaching the stage and shaking hands with President Neil Kerwin. Following commencement, GradImages will send proofs and ordering information to students. Parents and guests will not be permitted on or near the stage to take photographs during the ceremony.
Students can receive a $5 discount on photo orders over $25 by registering their email addresses prior to the commencement ceremonies. Go to the GradImages pre-event registration site and enter "American University," then select the correct ceremony and register your email address.
Yearbooks
The Talon, AU's award-winning undergraduate yearbook, is produced by students. Click here for information on ordering yearbooks.
Portrait sessions will be held March 27-28, April 1-2, and April 17-20 in Anderson 3K.There is a $5 sitting fee, and professional dress is required. To register for a time, go to www.ouryear.com. AU's school code is 708. You will receive proofs of the photos and information on how to indicate which you would like included in the Talon.
