Graduating students who have left the country but wish to participate in Commencement, or students whose guests have non-U.S. passports, may require documentation in order to secure a visa to attend commencement.
The graduating student (or recent graduate) may request documentation by submitting a written request, including the graduating student's name and signature, to the Registrar's Office.
Requests may be submitted via fax or by email and must be from the graduating student. Emails must contain a PDF attachment containing your request and signature. Send requests to:Degree Clearance Team Office of the Registrar American University 4400 Massachusetts Ave., NW Washington, DC 20016
You must include the following information:
1. Name of the graduating student
2. Major or course of study
3. Date of ceremony
