Video Playback
Audio-Visual offers video playback in VHS and DVD formats for display through video projectors onto a large projection screen or on 20" color monitors in smaller sites. Other video formats may be available in certain locations (such as mini-dv). Please call the AV office for details. Many classrooms are equipped with installed video projectors capable of VHS and DVD playback. To ensure equipment has been checked and is in good working order before your class begins, please place an AV Service Request. A technician may also be requested to show you how to operate the equipment before your class begins. In addition, we also provide portable video projectors for large audiences in other classroom and event areas by request. If you need to project from your laptop as well as show videos, please note that in your AV Service Request, and we will provide the appropriate equipment and/or extra instruction.
If you plan on showing a video outside of a regularly scheduled class, please contact the University Center (ues@american.edu , x3900) to avoid problems with copyright infringement. Click here to find out more about copyright and fair use of video playback.

To ensure equipment has been checked and is in good working order before your class begins, please place an AV Service Request. If you plan to use the overhead projector frequently, please place a standing AV Service Request at the beginning of the semester. Please do not remove an overhead projector from the room to which it is assigned.
