Cleaning Up the Display of Old Courses

Option 1.
You can request to be removed from a course, and then the course will be removed from your Blackboard site. You can email the Help Desk (helpdesk@american.edu) and ask them to remove you from a course or courses. Please include the complete designation of the course such as GOVT-500-003-2002S.

As an alternative, request to be removed from all of all courses of a certain period such as “before Spring 2002.” You can also ask the Help Desk to remove all students from the course to reduce the clutter students experience also. However, please remember that when a student leaves a course, all their gradebook entries for quizzes also leave, so you should export your gradebooks to Excel if you have made use of the Gradebook feature in Blackboard.

Option 2.
Use the Pencil Icon to Change the Display of Old Courses.

Tired of seeing all those unavailable courses? You can now select which courses to display on the My Institution page (the first page reached by logging on to Blackboard). Click the My Institution tab, then click the little pencil-shaped Configure icon in the upper-right corner of the My Courses module. It is also possible to customize the Contents and Layout of the My Institution home page.
