Distance Education

Distance education at AU is at a cross-roads where the demand and capacity for instituting a more extensive program of online learning is approaching a critical mass. This is taking on a variety of manifestations, ranging from totally online, to blended courses, to occasional use of distance learning technologies and techniques. Our approach is not large-scale learning, but tailored courses appropriate for our students, and the students of our overseas partners, living in a big and connected world.

How to Participate
Distance Education for Students: click to learn about university wide programs that provide support for DE courses taught online during the summer or blended classes that occur during the regular school year.

Faculty Training Course: Faculty wanting to teach online in the summer will need to take a course (taught in the spring) on teaching online. The university will also pay you an honorarium to take this course. Calls for new courses are sent out in the fall semester. You will need to have your dean nominate you.

Other Distance Education Resources
