Artifact Analysis

We live in a world of things, and archaeologists eventually must interpret the artifacts of our past. This hands-on course in the archaeology lab uses collections from two important archaeological sites. One site, from colonial Philadelphia, dates to the eighteenth through early nineteenth century, and the other site is a Native American site from the fourteenth century located along the Potomac River. The goal is to understand the process of analyzing artifacts, and how that leads to a deeper understanding of our collective past.
