Post Production Sound
This course examines audio recording, production, reinforcement techniques, technologies, and aesthetics related to the development of a soundtrack in film, television, and new media applications. A survey of technologies, aesthetics, and approaches, past and present is explored. Students complete real world projects that employ approaches examined and discussed in class. Prerequisite: permission of instructor.

Post Production Sound

Location Sound Recording
Students learn the techniques and equipment of sound recording for both narrative and documentary film; explore film sound from a historical perspective to better understand the medium and how to integrate the dialogue, music and effects that are recorded for film soundtracks; and learn the practical gathering of sound, both in the field and on an interior film set and how to prepare location sound for post-production. Students are required to work on and present sound recorded on set. Prerequisite: permission of instructor.

Music Production Seminar
Students take a song from inception to submission to a record company for final mastering. They apply practical knowledge gained in the course through in-class projects. Prerequisite: permission of instructor.

Broadcast Audio
Through lectures and supervised labs, this course explores current radio industry trends and practices. The course also provides historical perspectives of the transmission and translation of messages through the broadcast media, primarily focusing on audio production in radio and television. Guest speakers from the industry lend their expertise to the course. Prerequisite: permission of instructor.
