Topics include non-linear editing, digital post production, location sound production, studio sound production and mixing, location lighting techniques, cinematography, digital authoring, and coding. Creative Sound Techniques

This course is designed specifically for those who create either narrative or documentary projects that utilize substantial location recording elements. The course focuses on developing the "golden ear" by evaluating locations and the basics of sound design. The focus then shifts to the fundamentals of the sound editorial process and options available in the mixing process. Prerequisite: COMM-331 or ATEC-220 and permission of school. Meets with COMM-638 003.

Students go behind the scenes to learn about modern day operation of a digital news and entertainment business. They learn about television news and digital content, production, sales, promotion and marketing and management of a major Washington, DC media company through the eyes of the production team. Prerequisite: COMM-200 and permission of school through application.
