Islamic Finance in the Global Economy

This course provides students with an introduction and overview of the principles of Islamic finance and its evolution over the centuries with emphasis on the last four decades. The different products are presented and discussed with reference to the modern conventional products in the marketplace. Coverage of the current Islamic capital markets and the institutions that are the major players in that market is undertaken. Issues related to insurance, accounting and auditing, and ethical concepts are covered. Prerequisite: upper-division standing.

Introduction to Global Supply Chain Management

This course explores different areas of supply chain activities in a global context with special emphasis on strategic as well as operational challenges. Topics include management of global logistics, global transportation, global sourcing, customs issues, and facility location in a global environment. This course also explores risk management, sustainability, and green initiatives in global supply chains. Prerequisite: IBUS-300 and ITEC-355 or permission of instructor.
