Foundations of Criminal Procedure

This course examines the theory, history, and practice of U.S. criminal procedure through statutes, case precedent, and other sources. The focus is on the 4th, 5th and 6th Amendments. Topics include warrants, warrantless searches, the use of technology in the context of search and seizure, the privilege against self-incrimination and its territorial and extraterritorial application, rights during trial, and the purpose and composition of juries.
