This course presents the scope and aims of analyzing qualitative data, with attention to epistemological difference between qualitative and quantitative research methods. It focuses on a broad range of techniques for analyzing qualitative datasets and the utility of qualitative data analysis, as well as issues raised in the coding strategies and the themes chosen to present evidence. It also engages analysis of qualitative data generated by particular applications of research methods, for example, program evaluation and community action. Usually offered every spring. Prerequisite: SOCY-620.
