Once your course registration
is confirmed, you should be aware of the following information
and expectations.
Course
Orientation
A week or so prior to the course
start date, your instructor will e-mail you about participating
in an online orientation to the course. This exercise will
introduce you to the online mechanics of the course, and it
will provide a chance to meet the instructor and other classmates.
Your AU e-mail address will be the official means of communication
between you and your faculty. It is important that you always
check your AU e-mailbox OR if you are using another e-mail
address, make sure you forward all AU e-mails to your preferred
address.
Technical Support
At some point during the course
you may be in need of technical assistance. The following
resources are available to help you in those instances.

If you are not familiar with
using the Blackboard software, please visit the following

Desk
For the Summer 2005 semester,
the Help Desk staff will be available for real time assistance
Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. by calling 202-885-2550.

at anytime.
Your course instructor may also
be able to provide some basic technical assistance or put
you in touch with an appropriate contact.
System
Status
The secure sections of the my.american.edu
Web portal will be unavailable from 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.
on Wednesday evenings for regular system maintenance.
You may check the system status of all American
University network systems on the System
Status website or from the System Status link on the
my.american.edu portal.
