The Frederick Douglass Distinguished Scholars Program
Frederick Douglass Distinguished Scholars are American University’s premier academic community for exceptional students who are dedicated to improving under-resourced and underserved communities around the world. Since 1968, AU has awarded more than 1,600 Douglass scholarships to outstanding undergraduates from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. The scholarship program enables these talented individuals to attend the best graduate and professional schools, pursue influential careers, and create meaningful change. Frederick Douglass scholars personify the best of AU: academic excellence, leadership, and active citizenship.
