At-A-Glance

MAY (Prior to Year One)
• Students select their top three choices for their Fall Anthem Program Seminar, knowing which residence hall houses their Seminar choices.

SUMMER (New student Orientation)
• AU Values/Tradition
• Introduction to Anthem Program and 1st two years at AU, including Global Awareness

WELCOME WEEK
• FSE, Discover DC, Writer as Witness
• Local, Global Connections
• Residential Life
• Introdution to Anthem Seminar 1
• Convocation

FALL SEMESTER: YEAR ONE
• Anthem Seminar (4 credits: also meets Foundation Level General Education Requirement)
• Areas of Proficiency (see list) – linked to Seminar and Jr./Sr. TA’s
• American Anthem Scholar/Teacher Lecture Series
• Family Weekend Homecoming
• Residential Neighborhoods and other programs (including DC/Global-related forays)

SPRING SEMESTER: YEAR ONE
• Anthem Seminar 2 (also meets General Education foundation level course requirement in another area)
• Areas of Proficiency (see list) – linked to Seminar and Jr./Sr. TA’s
• American Anthem Scholar/Teacher Lecture Series
• Participation as panel chairs for research symposium
• Founders Week/Artemis Ward events
• Mini-Externship

SUMMER PRIOR TO YEAR TWO
• Roles for some in New Student Orientation for incoming class
• Rising Sophomore Summer (with links to alumni, career, and global components, etc.)
• Welcome Week: Sophomore Springboard/Convocation

FALL SEMESTER: YEAR TWO
• Research in Action Project (1-3 credits which may fulfill major or elective requirements)

SPRING SEMESTER: YEAR TWO
• Completion of research in action project
• American Anthem Research Symposium presentations

• Career Center/Internship Modules
• American Anthem Portfolio Finalization
