Campus Beautification Day 2016| April 13
This year we will be celebrating our 23rd Campus Beautification Day (CBD) on April 13th during Earth Month. You can register for CBD at the flag pole area opposite MGC entrance on the Quad starting at 8:00 a.m. on the day of the event. CBD is a university tradition which incorporates campus beautification and sustainability goals. The most important aspect of the day however is building and strengthening the AU community through bringing together staff, faculty, students, and neighbors.
CBD features a sustainability theme and our planned activities highlight AU's commitment to greening the campus. Wear comfortable clothing, closed toe shoes and we will supply the rest (gloves, water, T-shirt, and team leaders to guide you in participating in the various activities). The gardening activities wrap up at 11:45 a.m. at the CBD BBQ in the amphitheater. Campus Beautifiers will all be qualified to be entered to win a raffle prize at the BBQ! Simply fill out a raffle ticket at the registration desk and be present to win at the giveaway during the BBQ!
You can register on the day of the event to participate in the activities listed below. Registration tables will be on the quad by the flag pole and Brandywine. We also encourage volunteers to tweet throughout the day and connect with your fellow AU peers #BeautifyAU.

Electronic Waste Drive
Got personal electronic equipment?
Do you have a pile of electronics at home you’re not using? Outdated laptops, cell phones, cameras, cords, floppy disks, used ink cartridges, and more? We have an answer! AU will be hosting its annual E-Waste Drive on the Quad on Campus Beautification Day from 8am-11:30am. Bring your personal electronics cluttering your space to the Quad. All electronics will be recycled or reused and diverted from landfill. To see a complete list of items you can bring, please check out our website: www.american.edu/zerowaste.
Got AU owned electronic equipment?
If you have AU owned electronics you no longer need that are ready for pick up, you must send a request to AUSurplus@american.edu.
Bring Your Own (reusable water) Bottle!
Tap water is locally sourced, cheaper, and does not produce plastic waste. There is a strong movement on campus to ban bottled water. Bring your own reusable water bottle on Campus Beautification Day and help us reach our Zero Waste goal! Water coolers will be provided on the day of the event at designated sites.
@ the Amphitheater
From *11:45 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., AU will provide a free lunch near the Amphitheater for our volunteers. We will also be celebrating various events during lunch so be sure to come out!
Free BBQ Lunch! Vegetarian options will be provided. This event will be a zero waste event.
