Planned Maintenance Program

Under Facilities Operations is the Planned Maintenance Program.  It serves the function of performing maintenance of various equipment and areas on a regularly scheduled bases. It also serves to maintain the University’s equipment inventory records in its Computerized Maintenance Management System.

Currently there are over 17,300 items inventoried from across the campus. These items range from pumps to fan coil units to air handlers. Of these items, over 3,400 currently have planned maintenance routines in place.

This chart shows the amount of effort that was being put into maintaining American University's equipment with planned maintenance from 2006 to 2008. Planning maintenance on equipment definitely serves to minimize the number of unplanned outages on the campus.
