Welcome New Staff

TanyaMeet Tanya Lewis, American University's new Master Electrician. Prior to joining the Energy and Engineering team, Tanya earned a reputation for her outstanding customer service, and cost effective solutions. Tanya has worked in several agencies within the District Government including Planning and Economic Development, Consumer and Regulatory Affairs, and DC Public Schools. Tanya was the first female to serve as the Chief Electrical Inspector in Washington DC, where she oversaw operations of the Electrical Department. Tanya was appointed by the Mayor to serve on the District of Columbia Boards and Commissions for the Board of Industrial Trades. Some of Tanya's hobbies include exercising, golfing, horseback riding and reading.

GlenMeet Glen Hutton, American University's new Assistant Chief of Engineering. Glen grew up in Chevy Chase, Maryland. After High School, he became a Merchant Marine and worked on ships. He continued to advance his technical knowledge, and worked his way up to become a Licensed Merchant Marine Engineering Officer. Glen later transferred his knowledge and experience and became a Stationary Engineer, where he worked 20 years as a Chief Engineer in office buildings. and most recently at the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB). While there, he developed a capital improvement plan, managing all repairs, maintenance and remodeling projects at including: energy saving VFD's, Fire Alarm systems, and lighting retrofits staying within his established budgets. Glen was chosen for his position in Central Plant by unanimous vote because of his outstanding technical and leadership skills, but also tells us that in his free time, he enjoys doing pottery, making jewelry, and playing the guitar.
