Facilities
Planning and Development Updates
Campus wide
- We continue to work with WASA and our consultant on water quality. Until we are advised to the contrary by WASA:
- Please run tap water for 60 seconds before using it for cooking or making coffee unless there is a filter installed.
- 5 overnight power outages next winter break (2008 – 2009) to enable us to do required preventive maintenance to our medium voltage electrical distribution system.
- Classroom furniture replacement will take place in 14 classrooms in Ward, Dunblane and McKinley and chalk board replacements in 5 rooms in SIS will take place between August 12th and 15th
- Campus paving – The road from CDC around Centennial to the stop sign by Anderson will be paved between August 11th and the 14th
- Summer residence hall maintenance, painting and support of summer conferences continues and we are working with Housing & Dining Programs on fall move-in
Corps of Engineers
- Glenbrook Road Properties work continues
- Public Safety remediation continues
- Hughes Hall North end soil remediation, on target for mid August; completion no later than August 15th
- Trees to be removed today with spoil remediation to begin on Monday, 8/4.
Anderson
- Walls Roofing is 80% complete on the Anderson re-roofing project. The job is scheduled to be complete in early August.
Asbury
- Engineers are working on drawings and bid documents for replacement of HVAC piping in the south and west wings of the building. Once we have digested the details of the work we will begin to work with tenants on a schedule for the work. We are looking now at a Fall 08 project schedule
- We are developing the schedule for changes to FM and FA work space in Osborn and the Asbury lower level to complete the work this summer. Disruption to others is expected to be minimal.
- Replacement of carpet in the Language Lab is scheduled to take place this weekend
- We are in design for installation of a steam driven turbine to be used to generate electricity as a by-product of heating the campus
Bender Library
- Progress on the Bender Library front entrance replacement continues. Delivery of the new entrance system is scheduled for 8/11 with assembly and installation to follow.
Centennial
- The Centennial hall renovation remains on schedule for completion by the time students return. We will be finishing a floor at a time beginning with the 6th floor this Friday
- Good progress has been made on the Welcome Center renovation. Some mechanical work will need to take place after the return of welcome center on August 18th but will be worked around welcome center operations.
- Piping work in support for replacement of the building chiller, cooling tower and pumps is progressing. The chiller is being shipped from Texas and will not be installed and operational when students return but cooling will be available by 8/1 through connections to Anderson.
- We are repairing drainage and concrete problems in the parking garage and at the entrance to the Welcome Center. Please be careful when in these areas.
Kay Spiritual Life Center
- We are developing a project to replace the east and west side doors.
Leonard Hall
- Lounge furniture is scheduled to be delivered during the 2nd week of August.
Mary Graydon Center
- The contractor has connected piping of the MGC/Sports Center chilled water loop to the main quad chilled water loop
- We are working with OUA and the vendor for our standard windows to develop a project to replace windows in the building. We are working on a draft schedule to present to occupants.
- We are developing a project to replace the duct work serving the main dishwasher for TDR. Work is tentatively scheduled to take place in early August.
- We are working on a project to replace carpet in MGC 247, and MGC Auxiliary Services area.
McKinley Transformer
- Planning is underway for replacement of the transformer serving McKinley. An interim project will result in work in the man hole and the installation of a new switch in the area with umbrellas next to MGC.
- Audiology area HVAC work is scheduled to begin soon. Work is scheduled to be completed by mid-August.
Media Production Center/Transmitter Building
- We are reviewing documents to replace the back-up generator. Once we have the right sequence of steps we will work with the building occupants on a project schedule
Nebraska Hall
- Work continues to resolve issues lingering from the renovation
Quadruplex (Clark, Roper, Gray & McCabe)
- AHU's for all three buildings are in place and final balancing and adjustments are underway.
Reeves Field
- We are working on the new support structure for the replacement score board. Installation of the new board will begin on 8/6.
Sports Center
- We have begun work on the installation of a new emergency generator to support the Sport Center and Butler Pavilion. The concrete pad has been poured and delivery of the new generator is scheduled for Monday.
- We are developing a project to replace flooring the men’s and women’s general locker rooms
Ward
- We are developing a project to replace the light dimming system in Ward 1. This project requires that the room be out of service for at least a week. Once we have more details we will work with the Registrar’s office and University Scheduling to determine the best time to do the work.
