Vehicles with $300.00 or more in fines, with three or more tickets open for more than 30 days, or with false registration/ unauthorized use of permit violations are subject to immobilization. If this occurs, the vehicle owner must address all citations with the Office of Parking and Traffic Services. The immobilization device will not be removed until all fines are paid.
If a vehicle is immobilized for a period of time in excess of 30 calendar day can be considered abandoned and may be towed at the owner's expense if the owner fails to pay citations that are due.
All unpaid tickets issued by American University must be paid at the Office of Parking and Traffic Services before your vehicle can be released. AU will provide written documentation of your paid ticket balance.
The costs of towing and storage are the sole responsibility of the vehicle's owner, and must be paid before the vehicle can be released.
American University assumes no liability or responsibility for the vehicle under any circumstances.
A. Fines incurred with Parking and Traffic Services are considered a financial obligation of the university and records of fines are maintained for four years.
B. Individuals are responsible for all violations incurred by anyone driving a vehicle registered in his/her name.
C. Late fees double the violation charge and will be applied 30 calendar days from the date of ticket issuance.
