Parking & Traffic Alerts

American University has upgraded its parking management system!

Effective October 7, 2015, all members of the AU community will be able to manage their parking needs with the AU Parking Portal, hosted by T2 Systems.

For members of the AU community with a valid AU ID number, you already have an account that you can access using your AU Portal Login! If you are a contractor or otherwise do not have an AU ID number, you simply go to the new AU Parking Portal and create a guest login.

For anyone looking to pay or appeal a citation issued on or after October 7, 2015, (citation # starting with 15) this can also be done through the AU Parking Portal!

In order to pay or appeal citations issued before October 7, 2015, (citation # starting with 50) please visit the old portal, as printed on the back of the citation.

As always, if you have questions or concerns about parking at American University, please contact our office directly.

Faculty/Staff Permit Distribution

On October 3, 2014, the AU Office of Parking and Traffic Services completed two weeks of off-site permit distribution of the new Faculty/Staff permits at seven locations for individuals enrolled in payroll deductions. Please be aware of the following dates as we move to ensure that all displayed Faculty/Staff permits are up to date:

  • November 1, 2014: All old (grey) Faculty/Staff stickers will be invalid. Vehicles displaying these invalid permits will be issued warning citations instructing the permit holder to visit the Parking Office located in Lower Level Letts, Suite 1 to obtain valid (red) permits and update the application on file (if necessary).
  • December 1, 2014: PSAs will begin issuing citations for "Absence of Current Permit" to all vehicles displaying the invalid (grey) permits.

In order for enrolled Faculty/Staff members to obtain their new (red) permits, they simply need to bring their AU ID (or a valid Photo ID) to the Office of Parking &Traffic Services during regular business hours (8 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Monday - Thursday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Friday). At time of pickup, permit holders will be asked to confirm the vehicle information they have on file. If adding a new vehicle, please be sure to provide the new vehicle's registration or a permit will not be issued. Permits being displayed on vehicles not matching the information on file are subject to a $150 fine.If you have further questions or concerns regarding these changes, please call the Office of Parking and Traffic Services at 202-885-3111.
