First Aid Training
 


Purpose of the training: 
To establish a baseline for the management of minor, non-life threatening conditions and injuries that may result from the evacuation of a building.

Facilitator(s):  Dan Bruey

Participants:  First Aid Team

Equipment/supplies provided: Copy of the Emergency Management Procedures, backpack, hat, armband, ID holder, flashlight, first aid kit, whistle, and extra flashlight batteries, toothbrush and toothpaste, bottled water, notepad and pencil, 2 glowsticks, EAS identification card.

 Responsibilities:

  • To identify other Red Cross trained first-aiders, EMTs, CPR-trained individuals who may be of service in the event of an evacuation.
  • To have completed a Red Cross First Aid training course or be able to provide documentation of successful completion of a course.
  • In the event of an evacuation, provide assistance to emergency assistance staff by calmly and systematically facilitating the process.
  • To provide first aid treatment and support to individuals in need during an evacuation.
  • In the event of a campus evacuation, a designated public safety officer will bring the following supplies to the evacuation site:
    • 2 cases of instant cold packs
    • 1-6 part adult air splint kit
    • 1 short neck collar
    • 1 long neck collar
    • 1 regular neck collar
    • 4 professional first aid kits
    • 1 evacu+ chair
    • 1 wheelchair
    • 1 stretcher kit

  • If necessary, coordinating with appropriate District agencies for the care of mass casualties and the maintenance of medical records during a disaster.
