Changing Your Billing Address

To change your mailing address, please complete the address change form either through the Academics section of the AU portal (look for the "Update My Address" link) or by filling out the form in the Student Accounts or Registrar's office. Addresses can be changed only by the student, and only in writing. Please take care to indicate whether or not you want the new address to be your billing address. You may add any address to your account, but you must specify which address bills should be sent to. You may also submit an address change by e-mailing studentaccounts@american.edu through your AU assigned email address. Please include your phone number.

Billing Address Stop

If you have a billing address stop on your account, changing your address through your Student Portal will NOT take the stop off. You must contact Student Accounts via your AU assigned e-mail to have this stop removed. Our e-mail address is studentaccounts@american.edu.  

The Office of the Registrar now requires all students to have a U.S. in-session address. If you do not have an in-session address when you register, you will see a message preventing you from continuing. This is not a Student Accounts stop and would not be visible when you log into the student portal. In this case you would need to update your address on the student portal at https://myau.american.edu and contact the Office of the Registrar to allow you to register.
