Green Office (GO!)

Let's GO!

Green Your Office

The Green Office (GO!) program harnesses the power of collective action by engaging faculty and staff throughout the university in sustainability initiatives that meet the goals of AU's strategic plan. GO! is a comprehensive, year-long program, first piloted in the 2011-12 academic year in fifteen offices, and the successor program to the "Eco-Office Certification" program developed by student group Eco-Sense. In 2012-13 the program is available campus-wide.

Use the links on the right-hand side of the page to find out more information about each of the sustainability topics covered by GO! in its easy-to-follow monthly format. If your office, department, or unit is not yet registered for the program, click here to fill out the easy online registration form.

How GO! Works

Each GO! office designates a staff liaison. Office liaisons use an electronic tool to guide their greening activities. GO! topics (list on the right-hand side of page) are presented monthly. From September through April, office liaisons attend one-hour monthly sustainability trainings on the monthly GO! topic. Trained student sustainability interns provide each office with direct support in how to use the tool and implement the activities.

Awards are given to the best-scoring offices each month and at the end of the academic year. At the end of the year, offices are also assigned an official GO! rating, and a scorecard detailing the steps the office took to go green that year is uploaded to the GO! webpage. The program is designed to be ongoing, promoting continuous improvement every year.
