Ride Home (GRH) Program
What is it?
Guaranteed Ride Home (otherwise known as GRH)
is designed to rescue commuters who are worried
about how they’ll get home when an emergency
arises. Knowing there’s a guaranteed ride
home allows you to use commuting options like
public transit and carpools with confidence.
Who can use it?
GRH provides AU faculty and staff members who
regularly carpool, vanpool, bike, walk or take
public transit to work with a reliable ride home
when one of life’s unexpected emergencies
arises.
You’re automatically eligible for this
program if you live in one of the following areas:
District of Columbia
Maryland Counties
Allegany, Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Calvert, Carroll,

How does it work?
Commuters will be able to use GRH to get home
for unexpected personal emergencies and unscheduled
overtime up to FOUR times per year. Commuter Connections
has contracted with several taxi companies, a
rental car agency, and a Paratransit service provider
to provide GRH transportation quickly and safely
to its members.
Restrictions apply, so be sure to carefully read
the participation guidelines accessible at http://www.mwcog.org/commuter/Bdy-Grh-participate.html
Best of all, the GRH ride home by taxi, rental
car, bus or train is free (excluding gratuity,
taxes, fuel, and insurance charges).
If you are a faculty or staff member and experience
a qualifying emergency on a day that you carpool,
vanpool, bike, walk or take transit to work, call
Commuter Connections Monday through Friday from
6 a.m. to 10 p.m., excluding all federal holidays,
to arrange a ride home. Please note, all GRH trips
must be arranged and authorized by the Commuter
Connections dispatcher.
