As part of the Game Lab, the Game Studio provides a broad range of services to companies, non-profits, and government agencies. Leveraging Studio Manager Bob Hone's experience running a game design company for 20 years, the studio applies agile design and production methods to produce projects on tight deadlines and budgets.
The Game Studio offers a range of field-tested workshops to stimulate game design thinking for in-house production teams and designers. Lindsay Grace and Bob Hone have presented workshops focused on key game design issues including: Game Verbs™, Game Design Thinking, Designing Health Games, and Agile Game Development. Working from core templates, we customize the workshop to meet each client's particular needs and goals.
Rapid prototype development can inject energy into new product or program efforts. Using a variety of prototyping tools and coding frameworks (Construct, Unity, Angular JS, etc.), Game Studio designers and developers can complete preliminary interactive prototypes in days and weeks instead of months and years. Applying agile development methods, project teams can then quickly iterate new versions to accelerate project completion.
Leveraging the research expertise of the Game Lab faculty, the Game Studio can craft a targeted research effort and comprehensive report to jumpstart client efforts to add persuasive game tactics and strategies to their areas of expertise. From reviews of emerging game design methods and technologies to analyses of persuasive game impacts to vertical markets, the Game Studio team can augment existing client resources to exploit new opportunities.
The Game Lab faculty has an expansive set of research interests from indie game development to community empowerment through gaming; from AI-supported narrative games to health games with innovative body sensors. We seek out engaging and challenging collaborations of all shapes and sizes. Contact us to start the dialogue and let's see if we can build a constructive collaboration that benefits your organization, the Game Studio, and pays it forward to communities across the country.
By combining Game Lab Director Lindsay Grace's deep expertise in game design thinking and Studio Manager Bob Hone's grant writing prowess (52% NSF/NIH grant award success rate: 11 awards of 21 concepts, total funding>$8M), the Game Studio partners with external non-profit and for profit entities to research, develop, and craft competitive grant proposals to government agencies and non-profit foundations.
