With the generosity and leadership of thousands of alumni, we successfully closed 2011 with more than 2,000 alumni donors in December alone, an overall year-to-date increase in web giving, and our Eagles stepping up in record numbers. Thank you!

This year, our foremost fundraising initiative is The Campaign for SOC, a capital advancement effort that will help transform AU’s iconic McKinley Building into a leading, high-tech center for communication education, professional innovation, and scholarship. We also remain steadfast in our commitments to raising scholarship and budget relieving dollars, establishing endowed faculty chairs and research programs, and increasing alumni support in these times of increased need.

Your gifts change lives every day, and we invite you to participate in the life of AU to see just how far beyond expectations your support will move us.

To learn more about getting involved and giving back, send me an email at vpdar@american.edu or call the Office of Development and Alumni Relations at 202-885-5900.

Profiles in Leadership

At this year's President's Circle Dinner, attended by nearly 350 of AU's most generous trustees, alumni, parents, friends, faculty, and staff, President Kerwin presented Alan Fleischmann with one of AU's highest honors, the 2011 Cyrus A. Ansary Medal. Campus leaders and Fleischmann's friends and colleagues reflected on leadership as an AU ideal and on Fleischmann exemplifying leadership in service in a video tribute.
