The President's Award is bestowed in the fall at AU's President's Circle Dinner to members of the AU community who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to American University through leadership and philanthropic support. Like the U.S. presidents for whom the award is named, through their service, vision, and financial support, Award winners have become etched in the history of the university.
President Neil Kerwin, SPA/BA '71 (left) presented Susan Lehrman with the 2012 President’s Award for her extraordinary vision and dedication to AU in launching the university's Initiative for Russian Culture.
Recipients of the award, first granted in 1982, have named endowed scholarships, buildings, other facilities, and important programs that define AU standards of excellence and generosity.
