Finalize your registration and receive a complimentary AhealthyU ball cap!

As the temperature outside begins to drop, so can your motivation to exercise. This 28 day challenge is designed to encourage all faculty and staff to MOVE more this fall. All healthy adults need 30 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity 5 or more days per week. Log any type of physical activity, win prizes, and support your health and well-being! Get Started:

HOW DOES IT WORK?

1. Register for this 28-day individual challenge.

  • Log steps or different types of activities on a daily basis including gardening, cleaning, walking, swimming, weight lifting, biking, etc.

2. Choose your tracking tool and connect it to the "Well on Track" online platform to automatically record your progress (data received from your compatible device or app).

  • Decide which tracking tool you will use from the list of Compatible Devices.

  • After you register, you will receive an email from "MOVE Technical Support" that will guide you through finalizing your registration and creating your "Well on Track" account. Well on Track is a digital health platform that allows AhealthyU to capture each participant's activity data for reporting weekly standings.

  • Note: Once you connect to the Well on Track online platform, you will not need to access this site again during the Challenge. To view your progress, you will access your own tracking tool or application that you chose for logging your activity from the list of compatible tracking tools (for example, your Fitbit app).

 3. Start logging your daily activities.

  • Activities may be logged using steps OR minutes

    • You must decide at registration which method you would like to use for the duration of the program

    • MINUTES: Most tracking tools require that you manually log your activity and minutes in the application

    • STEPS: Step tracking devices automatically capture your steps, as long as you are wearing the device properly

  • AhealthyU will convert your steps and minutes to points

    • 1 minute = 1 point OR 100 steps = 1 point

Program Highlights | New This Year

  • Track your daily activity by steps OR minutes.
  • Log your activity through a compatible app or tracking tool
    (no cost options available); wearable fitness device optional.
  • Connect to the "Well on Track" online platform to automatically record your progress (data received from your compatible device).
  • Participate in weekly raffles.
  • Prize money will be donated to an approved AU scholarship fund chosen by the top 5 highest scoring participants.
  • Catered lunch for the campus building with the highest average points.
  • Family members of AU faculty and staff can participate too!²

1. This challenge requires participation throughout the duration of the program; 4 Point stamps are awarded upon program completion.

2. Family members who participate in the MOVE Fitness Challenge must be 18 years and older, complete the registration process, pay the registration fee, follow the program rules, and sign the AhealthyU registration form.

REGISTER ONLINE

Every participant in the MOVE Fitness Challenge must complete the two-step online registration:


Step 1: Submit the online MOVE Fitness Challenge Registration Form.


Step 2: Watch for an email from MOVE Technical Support that will guide you through finalizing your registration and creating your "Well on Track" account. Returning users must update or verify existing account information and ensure the tracking device they plan to use in this fitness challenge is connected to the "Well on Track" platform.

COMPLETE YOUR REGISTRATION:

You will also need to submit the following items by COB Monday, October 2 in order to participate in the program:

1. Registration Fee

  • $5 - if you have your own tracking tool (check that it is compatible)

  • $15 - if you would like to purchase a MisFit Flash from AhealthyU

Cash or check (made payable to "American University")

2. Signed Exercise Release Form

There are several options for finalizing these registration items:
  • Visit the AhealthyU Office in Gray Hall, Room 111 any day of the work week from 10:00am to 3:00pm through 10/2.
  • Send your Release Form and registration payment via campus mail to AhealthyU in Gray Hall, Room 111.
  • Scan and email your signed Release Form to AhealthyU (please submit your payment through one of the previous options).

Participants who purchase a device from AhealthyU may pick up the device from the AhealthyU office (Gray Hall, Room 111) between 10am and 3pm through 10/2.

Win Great Prizes

To be eligible for prizes, participants must use a compatible tracking tool and connect to the Well on Track online platform.

CHALLENGE WINNERS: AhealthyU MOVE Challenge prize money will be used to support an AU Scholarship Fund. The top FIVE highest scoring MOVE participants get to choose the approved AU Scholarship Fund to receive the prize funds! Medals awarded to the top FIVE highest scoring participants. Here are the scholarship funds that each winner can choose from:

  • AU Fund for Excellence - Gifts to this fund are unrestricted and support all areas of the institution. Unrestricted gifts allow the university to use the funds in areas where they are most needed.
  • Campus Life Discretionary Fund - This fund enables the vice president of Campus Life to support new student and staff initiatives, and to meet unanticipated equipment, facility, and program needs.

WEEKLY PRIZES: Each week, all participants who earn at least 250 points (250 minutes or 25,000 steps) for that week will be entered into a raffle for an AhealthyU moisture-wicking t-shirt, yoga mat, or MOVE cinch backpack.

To maintain the integrity and intent of the program, AhealthyU asks that you provide honest reporting throughout the challenge. AhealthyU reserves the right to audit any participant's activities.
