Healthy Drink Recipes

Staying hydrated is essential for well being. By using fresh fruits, low fat dairy products and protein supplements a normal smoothie can become much more. The recipes below do just that, as they provide not only hydration but also essential nutrients in a refreshing package.

Blue and Red Berry Smoothie:

Ingredients:
1/3 cup oatmeal
5 tablespoons non-fat vanilla or plain yogurt
1/2 cup orange juice
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
6 frozen strawberries

Instructions:
Blend until smooth and enjoy with a straw. Serve chilled if desired.

 

 

Fruit and Apple Smoothie:

Ingredients:
2 apples, cored and chopped
1 banana
1-1/2 cup plain soymilk or low fat milk
2 teaspoons apple juice or frozen apple juice concentrate
1 scoop whey protein, vanilla or plain
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
water and ice

Instructions:
Thoroughly blend all ingredients except for water and ice. 

Add water and ice to desired consistency. More ice yields a thicken consistency, and less ice yields a smoother consistency. 

 

 

Oatmeal Protein Smoothie:

Ingredients:
1/4 cup oats
1 tablespoon peanut butter
1 cup low fat or fat free milk
1 scoop protein powder, any flavor
1 tablespoon ground wheat bran
Dash of cinnamon

Instructions:
Blend all ingredients in a food processor or blender, serve chilled.

 

 

Vegan Blueberry Fiber Smoothie:

Ingredients:
1/2 cup ice
1/2 cup Kashi Golean Crunch cereal
2 tablespoons ground wheat bran
1 cup light soymilk
1 cup frozen blueberries

Instructions:
Blend ice, soymilk and cereal to a fine consistency. Add all other ingredients to mixture and blend until smooth, Serve chilled.
