Hotels

There are many places to stay within easy distance to the university.  

Several area hotels offer special rates for visitors to American University, so be sure to mention us by name when making reservations.

Getting Around

Flying in and need to get to AU’s campus? Try Metro, Washington Flyer, or SuperShuttle (Airport Transportation).

Once you’re here, you have a host of different public transportation options including Metro, Zip Car, AU Shuttle, and DC Circulator. Amtrak, MARC (MD commuters), and VRE (VA Commuters) serve commuters and travelers in and around the DC area.

If you are relocating to work at American University, we have partners who can assist you with this transition. We offer a Relocation Policy to assist some faculty and staff hires with their expenses. For more information, please contact your hiring department.

American University offers two banking services: Capitol One has a branch on the main campus and several other major banks are close to campus. Faculty and staff also may take advantage of the Engraving and Printing Federal Credit Union.
