Beginning January 2009, faculty and staff enrolled in CareFirst receive medical coverage, including hormone therapy and psychological support. Most transgender surgical procedures are covered up to a $75,000 life time limit.
Employees wishing to use this benefit are asked to contact the benefits office to learn more. As the benefit is being offered for the first time by CareFirst and Express Scripts for American University, the benefits team are available to assist in answering questions about coverage and claims administration as needed.
